Gregg picked up this electric green tourmaline while hunting topaz in Brazil. This gem is beautifully clean. It has a dark c-axis which creates a dark tone throughout the gem. The wildly glowing green flashes through and is quite brilliant.
Our topaz is always natural and untreated, which we can guarantee since we track the stone's story from the moment it first sees sunlight!
With this tourmaline, we can't be so certain. Most tourmaline is heat treated to improve color, a process that is safe and creates a stable hue. We have to assume that this gem has been heated.
